We have team members to assist you in appointment scheduling, financial and insurance concerns as well as all the clinical aspects of periodontal and implant treatment.
Dr. Mata's commitment to patient care is shared by the entire team. Our dental hygienist and assistant have special training for the needs of periodontal and implant patients. Our administrative team members will make sure you are fully informed of what to expect each visit. Our entire team is focused on making you feel comfortable.
Appointment/Financial Administrator - Marsha Hinderer
Marsha Hinderer has worked in the Dental Profession since 1973, and in Periodontics since 1982. Marsha has worked as a Registered Dental Assistant in General Dentistry and as a Surgical Assistant in several Periodontal Offices. She has been in Office management since 1995. Marsha joined Dr. Mata's staff as administrator in 1997, and enjoys the friendly atmosphere of his office. Marsha enjoys spending time with her three cats and is an avid animal lover.

Joan Russell
Joan Russell joined Dr Mata's staff in 2005. She has worked front office in the Periodontal/ Dental Profession for the last 12 years and enjoys meeting new patients and assisting with all patients needs. Joan has been married to her husband for 44 years and has 3 grown children who's families take up most of her spare time.
Periodontal Hygienist - Gwen McCarthy, RDH
Gwen McCarthy began her Dental career in 1995 as a Registered Dental Assistant. She worked as an Assistant until her son, Patrick, was born in 1986. She returned to school after a few years at home being with her son. Gwen graduated with honors from the Cerritos College Dental Hygiene Program in 1995. Gwen joined Dr. Mata's office later that same year. She is a member of the American Dental Hygiene Association. Gwen provides initial periodontal therapy, guidance with home care techniques, scaling and root planning and regular maintenance visits. Gwen has many interests some of which include cooking, entertaining and traveling. Knowing and relating to her patients brings her much joy.
Patty Portillo - Dental Assistant
Patty Portillo has worked as a Dental Assistant for over 7 years. She loves her job and enjoys educating patients about their overall dental health. Patty is our newest staff member and brings lots of care and comfort to our patients.
